Difference between Key and Descriptive Flexfield?

Key Flexfield Descriptive Flefield
1. Unique Identifier 1.To capture extra information
2. Key Flexfield are stored in segment 2.Stored in attributes
3.For key flexfield there are flexfield Qualifier and segment Qualifier 3. Context-sensitive flexfield is a feature of DFF. (descriptive flexfield)

Key flex filed is used to store key information whereas descriptive flexfiled is used to store additional informations.

ex: if you go to Application Developer , then flexfiled---key flexfiled ---segments---segment separator

Segment separator is a key flexfiled

whereas a small box besides segment separator is descriptive flexfiled.

key flex fields are used to identify particular entity like(accounts,objects) supoose take debit cards each debit card contain unique number to identify them. eg; 100-023-323 key flex fields are used to store this number along with description.

dff's are used to capture additional informtion required for our organization without any programming.
