awt means abstract window toolkit it sis based on gui swing is latest version for awt  with some extra features.

AWT are not?pure?Java develpoed components. So they? behave (color) differently from one?platform to another platforms.

Where as Swings are pure?Java?components. So they behave same in all?platforms.
