let x be initial salary  after a month it  becomes 6/5*x

4 months salary is

x+6/5x+6/5*6/5x+6/5*6/5*6/5*x=1342*4

then x =1000

Mr. Shankar, i feel there is a fundamental error in the question as it says there is a increase of 6/5 times in a year & not after every year, which implies that we have to factor in that increase even for the 1st year. Do post your feedback.
