The indexset and the sequence set are the two sets of records in the index component of the vsam KSDS the other being the data component.

The sequence set contains pointers to each CI within the CA....it stores the key value for the highest record within a CI whereas the

indexset contains the pointer to the highest key value within a sequence set which in turn makes it to point to a CA. These two values are useful for comparison during the random or dynamic access to a record in KSDS
