Field which are coming through Explict joins are read only.
Using Dynamic picklist we can made these field editable.

Why does one require a login in the application to access tools even if an entry for that user exists in the Data Base?

If the user id is not created in the application,database extract cannot happen,spf generation will not happen.Hence tool login will fail.

Goto SiteMap-->Admin Audit Trail-->Query for the business component-->In the lower applet add the field.

If its a direct field sometimes it starts working on the fly,else a server bounce is advisable.

In Siebel, the Active Flag (ACTIVE_FLG) indicated that whether the component is locked or not. If ACTIVE_FLG=Y, you would not be able to make changes or lock the project. In order to make changes, you must first update the flag ACTIVE_FLG=N and afterwards you can make changes.

Virtual BC is a BC which has no Table Associated with it. It uses a XML gateway BS to fetch values using EAI transports. It uses a WEB Service to Query, Insert, Delete and other operation. Init() and Query() are the mandate methods required in the BS.

SWSE converts the http request into Siebel request and send the request to AOM(Application Object Manager).
