Adam is absolutely correct. It is not illegal to make the constructor as private. We generally do this while creating the singleton class patterns.

Disadvantage:- You cann't create object of that particular class.Advantage:- you can bound the user to use the static function of that class to create the object so that your function can keep track of all the objects created ,according to the implementation of that function.

Anybody knows how to convert object of one class to object of another class using type conversion? i read in a c++ book simply assign it like this obj1=obj2 where both are objects of different classes..but its not working..plz tell ..thanks in advance :)

I think to convert one class object to other can only be done either by using operator overloading of assignment operator or by creating a function which can assign the values of diffrent varaibles explicitly.

When a constructor throws an exception then it means that constructor failed (duh!!) and the object is never created.Just write a simple class to test it out yourself.
