Servlet is not thread safe, but that is because of the class/instance variables. So care must be taken to provide synchronized access to class/instance variables. Synchronizing entire service or doGet/doPost methods is bad and should be avoided.

They are the same app, just with 'Rational(tm)' branding instead of 'IBM(tm)' branding.
WSAD has been renamed to RAD. The change in name is to reflect IBM's acquisition and integration of the Rational product line.
WSAD does not have the version 6. WSAD's last version is 5. RAD starts with version 6. It is essentially the same IDE - they are both based on Eclipse and the numbering scheme continues.
WSAD 5 was based on the Eclipse 2.x series, whilst RAD 6 is based on Eclipse 3.x series.ahamza59

Marker interfaces are also called "tag" interfaces since they tag all the derived classes into a category based on their purpose. For example, all classes that implement the Cloneable interface can be cloned (i.e., the clone() method can be called on them). The Java compiler checks to make sure that if the clone() method is called on a class and the class implements the Cloneable interface.

Marker Interface is a Java interface which doesnt have any methods in it. Marker Interfaces are Serializable, clonable, Singlethreaded model, Event listener. Marker interfaces are implemented by the class or its super class inorder to add some functionality.
