bcoz java does not supports multiplethreading directly,runnable is better approach than threadclass.ex:class b{}class a extends b extends Thread{//gives error}so better approach isclass a extends b implements Runnable{}

Jvm run on single thread but it ll create more child thread depending up operating system. if u deeply go into jvm u can find function like classloader, import and packaging. which require threads to create.

Not necessary to override equals() and hashCode() methods, since Comparable interface force you to override compareTo() method.
