Yes we can , it is the just that update strategy is used for conditional updates, and the update option available at the mapping level in the target is update without any condition.

U can use
ps -ef | grep USERID
where USERID is the Id with which the process is running.
It will give you output with two Id and detail of process name
kill PID
or
Kill -9 PID (if kill does not work )

There is no different between them. The only thing is, SQL override is executed at the beginning of a mapping and the SQL-Transformation is executed downstream of the mapping
