we do. we have to update or insert a row in the target depending upon the data from the sources. so inorder to split the rows either to update or insert into the target table we use the lookup transformation in reference to target table and compared with source table.

we can do this by using mapping wizard.  there are of basically two types:1)getting started wizzard2)scdgettign started wizard is used when there is  no need to change the previous data.scd can hold the historical data.

I think you want a router transformation... This way you can test if input(s) meet a needed criterion and "route" the records that do to correct targets.In Expression transformation you can test case with nested IIF statements in an expression...

As I understand your 2nd question.You want to stop/fail session/mapping on some condition.You should use abort function to fail the workflow.

1. Tools->mappletdesigner->create->give a name2. From tr menu->create->mapplet input3.
In, mapplet input tr create required ports4. Create required group of tr like sorter,exp5.
Drag the ports from mapplet input to the tr6. Create mapplet output t/rand finally save the mapplet in the repository

When the target is used by Update Strategy T/R DD_REJECT, DD_UPDATE with some limited count, and if the number of rejected records exceed that count, then the session ends with failed status. This error is known as threshold error.
